Euro 2016: England vs Russia

England Russia Tickets Euro 2016

With the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament kicking off on 10th June 2016 there will be many highly charged games during the group stages with England and Russia both beginning their Group B campaign in Marseille on 11 June 2016. Eager fans from both England and Russia will be looking for tickets for this Euro 2016 match.

England

England qualified for the tournament in an unbeaten competitive run during 2015 under head coach Roy Hodgson. Beating Lithuania, Slovenia, San Marino, Switzerland and Estonia the squad arguably hasn't played the strongest teams in the tournament and, having lost 2-0 to Spain in a friendly their chances of going all the way remain in doubt; however they look a strong proposition come top of their group with just Russia, Wales and Slovakia to beat along the way. Hodgson some serious talent at his disposal across the field including the strength and experience of players like captain Wayne Rooney, midfielder James Milner, keeper Joe Hart and the prolific golden boots of Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck. New call-ups looking to make an impression include Tottenham's Danny Rose, QPR's Charlie Austin and Liverpool's Danny Ings Having put in their worst performance at a major tournament in almost sixty years, the Three Lions want to put the Brazil World Cup 2014 disaster behind them. England has never won the competition with their best achievement occurring in 1996 when the squad reached the semi-finals.

Russia

Russia also didn't advance beyond the groups stages at the last World Cup and had a few shaky moments in the qualifying stages of their Euro 2016 campaign. They finally finished second in their group. Starting with a strong 4-0 victory over Liechtenstein swiftly followed by two draws and two losses plus an awarded victory over Montenegro, Russia was not expected to qualify at all; however, four straight wins over Sweden, Liechtenstein, Moldova and Montenegro gave them the boost they needed to get to France. The current squad is an experienced one and are performing well under new head coach, Leonid Slutsky, who replaced the ex-England head coach, Fabio Cappella, in August 2015. With the exception of Denis Cheryshev who plays for Real Madrid, all of the national team play domestically in Russia but talents like ex- Chelsea defender, Yuri Zhirkov, will be well known to the England team.

All group B (including Wales, Slovakia, England, Russia) tickets for Euro 2016 will be available once the ticketing ballot has been finalised in February 2016.
