More About Liverpool Vs Arsenal (Premiership Football)

Liverpool v Arsenal Tickets 2016

The Liverpool v Arsenal match brings together two of the Premier League's top football clubs in their battle for the Premier League title. So far this season both teams are evenly matched, each occupying one of the top five places in the English Premier League. Each is looking to win the Premier League title race this season. For Arsenal, the return match sees them looking to overturn losing to Liverpool in their last game back in August. For Liverpool winning the league title would bring a renewed sense of achievement under new manager, Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool Football Club

liverpool vs arsenal ticketsLiverpool has been around for over 124 years ago and is one of a small group of founding teams in the English football league. In 2016 Forbes published their list of the World's top 20 most valuable football clubs. They placed Liverpool at number eight in the Forbes list with a value of $1.5 billion. With manager Jurgen Klopp in charge, Liverpool looks to have turned the corner and are currently one of the top 5 clubs in the Premier League this season.

Over the years, Liverpool has been home to several well-known players. One of them is Liverpool's longest serving captain, Steve Gerrard who retired in 2015. There are rumours that he is close to returning to the club in a management role. The belief is that he will join Klopp's coaching staff probably in January in his first step into management.

Liverpool has a number of first-class players on the team such as Sadio Mane and Phillipe Coutinho as well as rising stars such as Ben Woodburn. Also, Roberto Firmino is one of Liverpool's top goal scorers having scored six goals so far this season. According to the Football Leaks website, his contract with Liverpool includes a 'no Arsenal'' clause. The release clause means that the player is available to any club except Arsenal for a fee of GPB82m. That Arsenal is barred is most likely the result of the fallout between the clubs over Arsenal's attempt back in 2013 to sign Luis Suarez.

Arsenal Football Club

Arsenal has a long history as one of the league's top clubs. Despite this, when it comes to winning domestic and European titles, the club has seen mixed fortunes. Their last success was in 2015 when they won both the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

So far this season, Arsenal are in top form battling with Liverpool as well as clubs, Manchester City and Chelsea for the top spot in the Premier League. In Europe, the Champions League competition saw Arsenal achieve a resounding win in their game against Basel. It means that they finished top of their group, something they have only done twice in the last five years.

With a number of strong players, Arsene Wenger is able to show off the strength of those he has available to him both in domestic and European competitions. One of Arsenal's main reason for success this season has been put down to the attacking combination of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. Even though both players still have over a year left on their current contracts, both are said to be keen to agree on new contracts albeit on improved terms. Although discussions are still ongoing, the likelihood is that Ozil will agree on a deal with the club. For Sanchez, things are looking differently. There have been approaches made for him to play in China for one of the clubs in their Super League. The belief is that Sanchez may be offered a deal that would earn him around GBP400,000 a week. With such a huge deal on offer, it is unlikely that Arsenal or any club could hope to match it.

The last time they played Liverpool, Arsenal lost the game by four goals to three. As a result, Arsenal is looking for a win, having not won against Liverpool in their last three games.
