Arsenal Football Club, also known as Arsenal or by their nickname The Gunners, are a British pro soccer club based in Holloway, North London. They play in the Premier League and are one of the most successful clubs in English soccer, having won thirteen First Division and Premier League titles and ten FA Cups. They hold the record for the longest uninterrupted period of the English top flight clubs and are the sole Premier League side to have finished a season unbeaten.

The Arsenal Club was set up in 1886 and were the first Southern club to join the Soccer League, in 1893. They won their first major prizes in the 1930s, with five League Championship titles and 2 FA Cups. After a lean period in the post-war years they became the second club of the twentieth century to win the League and FA Cup Double in 1970 and 1971, and in the last twenty years have recorded a sequence of successes in this time armoury won a Cup Double, two further League and FA Cup Doubles, and became the fist London club to get to the UEFA Champs League final.

The club have changed location over time; the team were at first set up in Woolwich, south-east London, and in 1913 they moved north across the town to the Arsenal Stadium, Highbury. In 2006 they made a second though less distant move to the Emirates Stadium in nearby Holloway, London.

There is no other team in Europe that plays the same style of soccer as Arsenal Football Club. They play the passing game and are one of the best teams at maintaining possession. They work the ball to the goal instead of long passing balls and play a game that truly has the capacity to annoy their opponents.

Arsenal have a big fan base, who have always maintained long standing rivalries with a few other clubs, the most significant of these is with neighbours Tottenham Hotspur, with whom they frequently contest the North London derby. Arsenal are the third wealthiest club in the world, priced at over $1.2 billion as of 2009 and thanks to their stature, have constantly featured in portrayals of soccer in UK culture. The Arsenal Women’s Football Club are the most successful English club in ladies soccer and are also associated with the club.
