** Liverpool has held the honour of being the eighth most esteemed soccer club in the world, during the 2016 countdown. Guess how much the club was valued at? A cool $1.55 billion!

** The club was well-known as a force to be reckoned with both in English and European football, especially during the 1970s and 1980s.

** Guess who was captaining when Liverpool Football Club won the European championship for the 5th time? Steven Gerrard, of course! He helped the club win the final against Milan in the 2005 UEFA Champions League.

** In 1985, when the club was playing in the Heysel Stadium, a wall collapsed and 39 fans died in the disaster. This created such a hue and cry that all English clubs were banned from entering European competitions for the next five years.

** The Hillsborough disaster was the next tragedy to take place, in 1989. Ninety six supporters of the club died and 766 were injured, crushed against the perimeter fencing through poor crowd control by the police.

Based out of North Yorkshire, the Riverside Middlesbrough Football Club was formed in 1876. All matches were played at Ayresome Park for a cool 92 years, from 1903 to 1995. These days, matches are played at Riverside Stadium, especially the noteworthy Middlesbrough Vs. Liverpool matches.
