Set-up in 1998, the Scottish Premier League has brought Scottish football into the modern era, replacing the previous Scottish Football League setup.

Dominated by the two Glasgow giants, Celtic and Rangers, the SPL has grown into a modern, competitive, and highly entertaining league.

Since its inauguration, there have been only two teams which have won it, with the spoils being shared by Celtic and Rangers between them.

There has been a resurgence in interest in the game, finances are being looked after more carefully, and clubs are now bringing through their own talented players, instead of overspending on overpriced and overrated footballers from abroad.
